Introduction
My name is Wendy Elson and I was born on 22 May 1970 in the Swiss city of Basel, spending my childhood in Switzerland, Spain and England. Having been separated from my family for 37 years, I have found my happy ending and now live with my family and long lost family in the West Midlands, England.

As long as I can remember, I’ve loved art and being creative, and have always found time to express myself, despite raising 5 wonderful children with my wonderful husband!

Style & Technique
Life in all its colours and facets inspires me and I love to capture it in my paintings and drawings. To capture the soul of a human or an animal in a painting or a drawing fascinates me, and nothing excites me more than the process of giving life to an initial doodle and transforming it into a work of art using the best quality art materials.

Training
I began to teach myself through the study of literature, before exchanging and learning new techniques with other artists as part of an art group. To educate myself professionally in painting, I enjoyed various intensive courses with the fantastic Patrick Devonas in Germany and Switzerland, who taught me the Old Masters portrait techniques using oil, and life drawing from nature using Old Masters techniques. The skills I acquired under his guidance were invaluable, and in recent years have worked intensely in this medium.

My favourite media are oil and softpastel colours, and I very much enjoy the expressive charcoal / graphite pencil. I also have a great passion for portrait painting as I’m truly inspired by a subject with a soul.

Mein Name ist Wendy Elson, geboren am 22. Mai 1970 in Basel CH. Meine Kindheit verbrachte ich in der Schweiz, Spanien und England. 37 Jahre lang war ich von meinem Vater getrennt. Nun haben wir uns nach langer Suche endlich wieder gefunden. Wiedervereint mit meiner lang vermissten Familie, leben wir nun alle zusammen in West Midlands, England.

Seit frühster Jugend von musisch-kreativem angezogen, begeisterte ich mich seit ich denken kann, fürs malen und zeichnen. Das Leben in all seinen Farben und Facetten inspiriert mich. Ich liebe es die Seele eines Lebewesens in einem Bild einzufangen. Es ist jedes mal ein spannender Prozess zu sehen, wie aus einem anfänglichen Gekritzel, Form und Leben entsteht.

Ich interessiere mich sehr für altmeisterliche Maltechniken und habe mich in den vergangenen Jahren intensiv mit dem Thema beschäftigt. Das Know-How habe ich mir zunächst Autodidakt durch das Studium von Fachliteratur und dem wertvollen, intensiven Austausch mit anderen Künstlern in einem kleinen Malkreis, angeeignet.
Um mich professionell in der Malerei weiter zu bilden, besuchte ich Intensiv Workshops zu den Themen Altmeisterliches Porträt in Öl, sowie Aktzeichnen von der Natur in altmeisterlicher Technik bei Patrick Devonas, einem ausgezeichneten Lehrer.
Meine bevorzugten Medien sind Öl- und Softpastell Farben. Ich mag jedoch auch die ausdrucksstarke Zeichenkohle / Grafikstifte sehr.
Ich habe eine grosse Passion für die Portraitmalerei, da ich Motive mit Seele besonders liebe.
